Sharon Looking for OA and FM sufferers

About Me

People say I'm:

A good sounding board, a good reasoner and independent. But, I do have that Irish stubborn streak and a tendancy to be a little dramatic especially where I see injustices and ignorance.
Describe Yourself:

I am a young 51 year old, well at least people tell me that they thought I was in my late 30's. I have 2 beautiful grand daughters with a grandson on the way. My grandchildren are the joy of my life, they give my life purpose and meaning.

I have been suffering with insidious osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia for 2 years now and have been through the gambit; Physical Therapy, Pain Injections, Spinal Decompression Surgery, every pain medication known to man.

I have now lost my job, am waiting for a decision on long term disability and the insurance company has forced me to apply for SSD (Social Security Disability). So currently I have no income.

I am hoping my disease will go into remission it really hampers my interaction with my grandchildren and that breaks my heart.
On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:

Information from others suffering the same and to possibly help others suffering from these diseases. I have read many, many journal articles and have a pretty good understanding of my medical problems.
My job required me to, among other things, research heavily on the internet relative to pharmaceutical clinical trials so I have a good research background.

Favorite Music, Artists, Genres:

Song: The Town I Loved So Well-Phil Coulter (Phil Coulter writes and sings of the changes in his beloved Derry, County Derry, Ireland during "The Troubles". Isle of Hope-Brendon Graham, it makes me cry thinking of my ancestors in that same situation in the 1800's. And Rock 'N Roll the 60's-70's.

House, Ghost Hunters (still don't know if they are for real yet), Big World Little People (I love the family experiences), The Osbournes. East Enders., The Naked Archeologist, makes me laugh.
Favorite Places:

I just love Ireland. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. France is ok, Iceland is pretty cool and Munich is a great place to hang in beer gardens. You must taste all the beers in Munich.

genealogy, calligraphy, computers, camping, used to canoe, crafts, , my condition (OA/FM), (hmm, a lot of "c" words), genetic osteoarthritis. All things Irish.
Wish List:

That my grandchildren never know sorrow and pain. End to this war. Never ending trip to Ireland. That my OA would go into remission. , To talk to my grandmother, Mimi, one more time.
